Electives Descriptions

Forensic Science

Forensic Science focuses on the skills and concepts behind physical aspects of crime scene investigation and forensic science. Whether students desire to be crime scene investigator, forensic pathologist, or some other medical scientist, this course will help them hone their investigative skills and review a wide range of science concepts. Students will review physics, chemistry, anatomy, cell biology, environmental science and computer science in the process of learning about forensic science.

This course includes a broad series of lessons and activities that offer a variety of modalities for ultimate student engagement and content retention.

Environmental Science

Environmental science is the study of the natural sciences in an interdisciplinary context that always includes consideration of people and how they have influenced various systems around us. It includes many aspects of biology, earth and atmospheric sciences, fundamental principles of chemistry and physics, human population dynamics, and an appreciation for the Earth and its natural resources. Within each chapter are several pages that cover topics such as energy and cycling of matter, stability and change in ecosystems, and human activities and technology on ecosystems.

Bioengineering

This is one of the important branches of study that merges science with technology and engineering. Biomedical engineering bridges the gap between engineering and medicine, seamlessly combining the design and problem-solving skills of engineering with medical and biological sciences in order to improve healthcare diagnosis, monitoring and therapy.

When your son/ daughter select to study this elective it will improve his/her skills and direct them to a new field of study that has a very good chance of getting an important career. Students who pursue traditional engineering programs at the bachelor’s level may benefit from taking biological science courses.

Business

The study of business is about how individuals and groups of people organise, plan, and act to create and develop goods and services to satisfy customers. Business is influenced by and impacts on the cultural, ethical, environmental, political, and economic conditions of the day, Its study combines elements of accountancy, finance, marketing, organizational studies and operations, Business Studies is a broad subject in the Social Sciences, allowing the in-depth study of a range of specialties such as accountancy, finance, organization, human resources.

Nutrition

This is one of the important branches of life sciences . When your son / daughter select it as an elective course he /she will acquire the knowledge that helps understanding types of food and their importance in our life. Moreover this course will open his/her eyes on the possible careers related to this subject. A career in nutrition is ideal for those seeking to promote a balanced lifestyle and improve people’s diets, while helping them to keep a healthy weight, boost their immune system, increase their energy levels, and reduce the risk of developing certain diseases. Nutrition has been playing a big role in our lives, affecting daily habits and health behaviors.

Introduction to Programming

This course is designed to work with a simple syntax, and a powerful set of libraries. It is an interpreted language, with a rich programming environment, including a robust debugger and profiler. While it is easy for beginners to learn, it is widely used in many scientific areas for data exploration. This course is an introduction to the programming language for students without prior programming experience. We cover data types, control flow, object-oriented programming, and graphical user interface-driven applications. The examples and problems used in this course are drawn from diverse areas such as text processing, simple graphics creation and image manipulation, HTML and web programming, and genomics.

Web Design

This course is designed to help students learn the basics of HTML and how to build your first website. That means how to layout an  HTML page, how to add text and images, how to add headings and text formatting, and how to apply tables. it also help students control the style of a web document in parallel with the HTML code in a simple and easy way.

Photoshop

This COURSE is designed to give students an understanding of how to apply Adobe Photoshop CS6 to perform many different image-processing techniques. Adobe Photoshop CS6 has become an industry standard for so many different disciplines including graphic design, digital photography, web design, digital video editing, and creating animations. Adobe Photoshop CS6 is often a prerequisite for many other software programs and is the one program that everyone in every area of digital media should know. Students will produce and will be assessed on many projects. Through project work, students will learn how to use several tools for selecting parts of images, retouching, layers, special filters, digital photography scanning techniques, Wacom Tablets and animation, Students will learn, applications in Adobe Photoshop CS6.

Programing

This course gives students experience designing, implementing , testing, and debugging large programs. Students will also get advanced python programming experience; covering topics such as inheritance ,multithreading, networking, database, programming ,and web development.

Pre-AP Biology

Pre-AP Biology sparks student motivation and critical thinking about our living world as they engage in real-world data analysis and problem-solving. The Pre-AP Biology course emphasizes the integration of content with science practices—powerful reasoning tools that support students in analyzing the natural world around them. Having this ability is one of the hallmarks of scientific literacy and is critical for numerous college and career endeavors in science and the social sciences.
